Galactica one-week hiatus

46. 3- 8 307 17 Nov 06 Hero
47. 3- 9 308 1 Dec 06 Unfinished Business

aieee, I have to wait another week for my Galactica fix?
My life is an empty meaningless wasteland.
My soul's corridors echo hollowly.

Damn you Ron Moore.

I guess the Galacticans take Thanksgiving off.

On a related note: for the love of the gods, please don't have the Galacticans celebrate American Thanksgiving. Thanks.

got new glasses

I got new glasses.
You know what sucks?
Getting new glasses.
I never want to get new glasses (frames) again.
I shall certainly strive to never LOSE my glasses again as well.

They are "Versus by Versace".
"Italian," the saleslady said.
Err, if by Italian, you mean Made in China like the rest of the cr*p our society consumes, then yes.

They are MOD 7013 / 1009-S / 52[]18 / 140.

(Yes, photo is forthcoming. All shall be inventories from now on.)

Here's are some images I have, err, borrowed from the web (search for Versus 7013).
[Versus 7013 front view]
[Versus 7013 side view]
Mine are "Satin Black" like the top image, not blue.

It's not clear whether they're ok, or whether my future holds a sore nose, sore ear, and headache every day. Time will tell.

I may have a pair of my old ones remade next year,
assuming they still make that model.
Progress, you know.

My prescription is

Distance
Sph. Cyl. Axis
OD -2 -1.25 140
OS -2.25 -0.75 082

SV *

I have no idea what any of that means.

UPDATE 2006-12-11: Last year's prescription (November 2005) was

Distance
Sph. Cyl. Axis
OD -2 -1.25 140
OS -2.25 -1.00 082

SV *

As a side note, why do companies do all-Flash sites?
Did Versace sit down one day and say "hey, no one uses search engines, why should we bother having indexable content so people can actually find us"?
If you do manage to find Versace's glasses on their site, apparently the style is huge matte black sunglasses that cover half of your face. They look more like sleep masks than sunglasses. I will never understand fashion. Big regular glasses: hopelessly outmoded geeky loser style. Gigantic sunglasses: supair-kool.

in which I lose my glasses

I don't even know what brand or model they are.

I think I stuck them in my jacket pocket and they fell out, maybe on the #2 bus.

Yes, the pocket zippers AND I have many many pockets in the jacket, including inside pockets, but I didn't close them in.

I had losing things.

I want to take a photo inventory of everything.

There's $200 I won't see again.
I liked them too, they fit fine and the prescription was good.
I have some backup glasses but they're crappy, they hurt my eyes a bit and they hurt my left ear a lot.

I don't need them to see in general, but I do need them for staring at the computer 12+ hours a day.

Anyway, if you're wandering around Ottawa and see some glasses, they might be mine.

UPDATE: I contacted OCtranspo Lost & Found, but they don't have them.

you want a hilarious Mac ad?

Oh, I'll give you a Mac ad.

Hi, I'm a Mac.
I'm a Macintosh PowerBook G4.

My wireless is a fvcking piece of sh-t.

The wireless access point, which is all of TWO METRES AWAY, is capable of 11 Mbps or 58 Mbps or some damn thing, but that doesn't matter, because all I need is the measly 6 Mbps down / 800 Kbps up that I'm paying for from Rogers.

But I, the Macintosh PowerBook G4, have such a total sh-t wireless card that I get...

That's right. 245 Kbps down. Isn't that fvcking hilarious?

Now, if I were a PC, you'd have to reboot me over and over and over again to get me to work properly.

Well guess what, you have to do the same goddamn thing to get my wireless to maybe, randomly, decide to work at faster than dialup speeds.
