more on travel

I wrote a big thing on the stuff I've prepped for my trip, but due to a couple misunderstandings with blogger, it is gone.
It wasn't all that interesting anyway.

Basically in addition to the usual books and magazines the only new things I am trying this time to keep myself entertained will be some Daily Shows and Battlestar Galacticas I have downloaded, and some audio books that I will load onto the laptop as well.

travel and power

I'm tired of learning things.
Everything I want to do turns into some big Internet research expedition.

So I'm off to Europe.
So they are all with the different power.

So I assumed I need to buy a power converter.

But then I investigate further.

iBook (G3 800MHz, Radeon 7500 graphics 32MB): power adapter 100-240V, 50/60Hz
Canon S70 CB-2LT charger: 100-240V, 50/60Hz
Braun 3615 razor: 12-240V, 50/60Hz

So it appears that it is just prong adapters I need, not an actual power converter.
Such an exciting modern age we live in.

Of course I discover this after buying the power converter at RadioS... the Source.

Bush needs to go

Honest to god, I couldn't make this up.

President Bush writes a note to Condy Rice: "I think I may need a bathroom break. Is this possible..."

Where is he?

U.S. President George W. Bush writes a note to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during a Security Council meeting at the 2005 World Summit and 60th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York September 14, 2005. World leaders are exploring ways to revitalize the United Nations at a summit on Wednesday but their blueprint falls short of Secretary-General Kofi Annan's vision of freedom from want, persecution and war.

Copenhagen unplanned

So far all I have managed to figure out is that Tivoli Gardens is supposed to be good, but it's closed (it closes September 25)

and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is supposed to be good, but I find on the web that most of the museum is closed due to rebuilding.

when the spin cycle fails

Hmm, I wonder what the Bush administration's two talking points could be?

Mr. Bush accused critics of playing the "blame game" and said he would remain focused on the immediate crisis as evacuees fanned out across the country.

"We've got to solve problems; we're problem-solvers," he said. "There will be ample time for people to figure out what went right and what went wrong. What I'm interested in is helping save lives."

from New York Times Bush Promises to Seek Answers to Failures of Hurricane Relief (Bush speaking on September 6, 2005.)

MR. McCLELLAN: And again, David, see, this is where some people want to look at the blame game issue, and finger-point. We're focused on solving problems, and we're doing everything we can --
MR. McCLELLAN: We're going to continue. We appreciate the great effort that all of those at FEMA, including the head of FEMA, are doing to help the people in the region. And I'm just not going to engage in the blame game or finger-pointing that you're trying to get me to engage.
MR. McCLELLAN: No, everybody watching this knows, David, that you're trying to engage in a blame game.
MR. McCLELLAN: This is an attempt by some in this room to engage in finger-pointing and blame game and I'm just not going to do that. I've made it very clear --

ATMs and travel

Using your bank card to withdraw money can be handy when in a foreign land.

However, I have been reading that many countries only accept 4-digit pins.
So if you're using a 6-digit for extra security, you may want to change that before you travel.

alexander stoned to death

Watched Alexander.
Not recommended.
It is terrible.
Do not watch this movie.

I gave it 1/10 on IMDB.

The current overall rating on IMDB is 5.5/10, which is a pretty awful rating (IMDB ratings for "average" movies tend to be around 7.5/10).

fireflaw

Yesterday Slashdot reported on a Firefox vulnerability which could allow remote code execution. Today Firefox has a patch and a configuration workaround, both of which immunize against the bug. If you are using Firefox you should immediately go to the URL 'about:config', type 'network.enableIDN' into the box, and verify that 'network.enableIDN' is set to 'false'.

Copenhagen

I think I'm going to Copenhagen.

So... what's good to do in Copenhagen?

star of battle 2.8

My long-standing theory is confirmed:
I think the remainders of the human race are just rats in a maze for the Cylons.

The Cylons won the war.
All they care about now is religiously-driven resettlement of Caprica and the other human home worlds.
Which they can't do until they can make babies.

They also, secondarily, want the humans to find Earth so that they can also destroy it and resettle it with Cylons.

Ever since Six just showed up on Galactica one day, messed with their heads, and left, I was confirmed in my idea that the Cylons know exactly where the human fleet is.
