Oracular musings on Battlestar

Don't read this if you don't want to hear my super genius theories about what's going on.

================ WARNING, SECRET BATTLESTAR THEORIZING =================

Ok so here's my theory, which is mine:

Thousands of years ago, a monotheistic splinter group formed within Colonial civilization. One branch left for Earth, leaving One God techno-oracular gewgaws behind in their path. Another stayed behind, deep within the Greek polytheistic oracular system. Eventually, when the Cylons were being designed, they saw their Final Opportunity to cleanse the Colonies of the polytheistic perversion. Cue Cylon nukes followed by sermonizing Cylons. Cue the Chief's parents, a priest and oracle who are key members of the secret monotheistic Illuminati, and cue their lovable robot boy, Galen Tyrol. How ironical that a hybrid baby is beloved of feisty Callie, whose hatred of Cylons is stoked every day that she sees Number Eight version "Athena", identical to Boomer who was the Chief's lover, Adama's attempted assassin, and Callie's murder victim.

Why did the Chief keep having recurring dreams indicating an underlying worry he is a Cylon?

Because he is a Cylon.

Why was the Chief mysteriously drawn to the secret Temple of Jupiter, hmm, Jupiter, lord amongst gods, head god, almost a sort of One God?

Because he was designed to be.

the CPCC wankers are at it again

The CPCC (did I mention they're a bunch of wankers?) after losing their previous 2002-2004 attempt to tax iPods and such

http://manifestomultilinko.blogspot.com/search?q=cpcc

are now following the usual management maxim "if something was a bad idea and failed, try it again".

I have an idea for a law: the You Lost, Shut Up Now law.

Anyhoo

CPCC’s proposed tariff for 2008-2009 (PDF)

“blank audio recording medium” means

(iv) Removable electronic memory cards in the Secure
Digital, MultiMedia, and Memory Stick formats with more
than 256 MBs of memory;
(v) digital audio recorders; and ...

Levy

(d) for removable electronic memory cards in the Secure Digital,
MultiMedia, and Memory Stick formats with more than
256 MB of memory, $2 for each card with no more than
1 Gigabyte (GB) of memory, $5 for each card with more than
1 GB and no more than 4 GB of memory, and $10 for each
card with more than 4 GB of memory;

I have another idea: any law that names a specific technology is a Bad Law.

In case you don't know about the CPCC, they collect a levy, which they then mismanage supposedly distribute for the theoretical benefit of Canadian artists. Which would be true, if by "distribute" you mean "never get around to distributing" and by "Canadian artists" you mean "giant international mega-music corporations".

Yes, that's right, for the great privilege of storing your own files on your own memory cards, you get to pay a special Music Recording Industry Tax. In the unlikely event you think that isn't just a super plan:

the [Copyright] Board hereby gives notice that any person who wishes to object to the statement may file written objections with the Board, at the address indicated below, within 60 days of the publication of this notice, that is,
no later than April 11, 2007.

meh

I think every time they mention Joseph Adama there should be a banner across the bottom of the screen "For more on Joseph Adama, see Caprica, coming to Sci Fi in 2008". In fact I'm amazed there isn't such a banner.

I guess in story arcs you have to accept that some episodes will just be "stage setting". But stage setting is pretty boring unless done well.

This real time at 10 PM is a bit tiring for me Monday morning.
Plus I hate those f-ing Brand Power commercials. And the Wal-Mart commercials. Err, and all of the other commercials. I may save up the next two finale weeks (18th and 25th) and watch them together.
