Bank Street rant
There will be a much longer rant coming, but for now They should just permanently turn over all of Bank Street for a dedicated tram street, also permitting bicycles. I'm pretty sure Bank is an old trolley street anyway. That would give you an arrow of public transit / healthy commuting right in the heart of Ottawa, pointing at Parliament Hill. They did a terrible job of selling the "north-south rail", it took me a long time to figure out they were actually proposing a tram, not a train. My friends are currently highly amused by the number of cars who are ignoring the temporary "no exit" sign on Somerset at Kent, and then having to do a U-turn when they reach the police-guarded barriers at Bank. (The barriers are there until Somerset House is satisfactorily stabilised.) HOME - |
