sarah con 8-9 finale
Honestly I don't know what to think, I'm not even sure I entirely follow what is going on. Girl with bloody shirt?? Mech Turk extortion? fiber optic traffic system? 14 terabyte video output? shower inspections? rejected virus? what tha? It's the same as always, a bunch of themes and plot lines that don't gel. Bursts of very lofty language and very arty work (swimming pool apocalyse) and the rest just not, quite, there I don't get it. Like ok, from our perspective they're terrorists, but they're good terrorists. So there's that angle. Or there are lots of other angles. But they never seem to quite pick one. Plus which, lose the Revelations talk. And trust me: never, ever plug your robot's brain into a control system. Have you people not watched TNG? UPDATE 2008-03-04: Plus which, if you're looking for something that would fit in a backpack, and there's a backpack sitting on the table... you might want to look in the backpack. It was cool that they brought back the guy from the movie. But I didn't like the whole crazy Revelations thing. So I guess we're supposed to be wondering what happened to futureguy in the futurehouse? He went downstairs and had to dance with robot girl? I guess they moved the plot along but it didn't really do it for me. I also find there's this weird disconnect, the closing narration in particular, but also some of the language throughout the episodes, is very lofty and erudite, but the actual execution of the acting and rest of the plot is not so much. more of a scene setter, nothing really happened * I noticed a few eps ago the opening narration says SkyNet sent back Firefly robot girl, what's up with that? * How does whatshisname, Derek, know that Firefly girl is a robot when he sees her in the bunker? * Does hygiene not exist in this reality? Washing up before you operate?? Changing your shirt when it's covered with blood that got on it hours ago? Labels: review, television, terminator, terminatortv Monday, February 11, 2008

Skynet is a 4 disc SATA RAID array? Who knew? I'm looking at my 2 disc array (which does in fact have a whole onboard busybox os) in a whole new light now. I hope Skynet puts the spoiler people first against the wall. Way to spoiler out episode 6, marketing geniuses. Note to self: always remember you hate the spoilers. Sort of half-watched it along with the demo debate (my TV has dual tuners). Seemed goodish, I liked the mention of the Singularity. Some plot possibilities developing. So far the robot girl is from Firefly, John Connor (who I keep wanting to call John O'Connor, ala Buckaroo Banzai) is from Heroes, and Miguel or whatever his name was was Master Bretag (Bretak?) from SG-1. Sarah Connor
Jury still out. Not sure they can do a show that consists entirely of a robot trying to kill John Connor, and not succeeding, every single episode. They did kind of hint at the plot by saying there are "robots with many missions" in the city, presumably it will Roboto of the Week club. I did like the computer store, in particular you can barely catch it as he goes out the door, but the address is 1337 Labels: leet, review, television, terminator, terminatortv HOME - |
