The hospital in Truro has closed its doors to visitors after more than a dozen staff got sick with a norovirus.

Dartmouth General Hospital closed its doors to visitors Monday, becoming the latest medical facility in the Halifax area to take the action to curb an outbreak of a flu-like virus.

Visitors are also barred from the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building, the eighth floor of the Halifax Infirmary and a section of the fourth floor of the Centennial Building.

The Capital District Health Authority is only allowing one family into Halifax emergency rooms at a time to prevent the spread of symptoms.

The norovirus-like symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping.
