xmas songs 2 - the disturbing saga of darcy
Darcy the Dragon. Hmm, I thought I had blogged this before, but anyway I am unsure whether this is a charming Christmas tale, a story of capitalist triumph, or a darkly subversive satire.
So Christmas, for Darcy, must be presents.
So Darcy is unique. He is not part of the mainstream culture.
Darcy is cast out of the village but he doesn't feel stung by discrimination, he worries only about the lack of gifts.
That's right, Darcy's uniqueness has been extinguished.
Well isn't that sweet. Darcy's counter-culture voice having been destroyed, all are happy to welcome him to their shopping frenzy. So: Darcy the Dragon. Charming tale of celebration, or sinister capitulation to consumerism? HOME - |
