Reading Le Tour du Monde en Quatre-Vingts Jours. Bit of a disappointment really. Phileas Fogg turns out to be deadly dull. All he is interested in is keeping to his schedule, which he does with total calm and detachment, and playing whist. Kind of like the Count of Monte Cristo which I am also reading in French. The first part where he goes into prison, then gets out, that's good. But then it goes all off the rails onto these long long discursive stories within stories. HOME - |
