Legalize downloads

For the first time, Canadians have a legal way to download digital music files from the internet. It's a service called Puretracks, and it makes its debut this month.

Note: I dispute "for the first time", I've been buying and downloading MP3s quite happily and legally from Emusic.com for quite some time, and there were briefly some other download services available from various Canadian online music vendors. PureTracks uses WMA, yick.

Puretracks uses the Windows Media Player file format known as WMA. The Windows Media Player, an application installed on every Windows operating system produced since 2000, is good for handling downloads, creating playlists and transferring the music to a CD or a portable music player, or copying from your own CD collection.
