    I googled for energy-efficient toasters and apparently this concept does not exist.
    What I want is, if I'm only toasting one slice, it only tries to... toast one slice, instead of turning all its heating elements on.

    In the absence of any info, I'm inclined to just get the wide one with glass see-through sides I saw at Sears.
