The tale of the iBook. Ok, so somehow by copying files to it in Target Disk Mode (TDM), it stopped knowing how to boot. So fine. Mounted it in TDM on an iMac running OS 9, deleted the MacOS 9 Startup Folder I had copied over. Still no boot. Mounted it in TDM on an iMac running OS X, did Disk First Aid - reported disk was fine. Even tried Repair Disk Permissions, which is kind of a weird thing to do - won't it replace the iBook permissions with iMac ones? Anyway that, and using Open Firmware to reset everything, and resetting the PRAM, all of that: nada. Still won't boot. Will have to reinstall OS. Argh. HOME - |
