from Reagan to Obama
For those of you pleased to see the language from President Obama about reducing waste in the budget, I recommend a book from 1986 The Triumph of Politics: Why the Reagan Revolution Failed by David Stockman While you may not agree with everything in the book, it paints a good picture of how the Reagan revolutionaries came into office, started striking out obsolete programs from the budget (rural electrification, anyone?) and then hit an absolute dead-end wall when they tried to push those cuts through Congress.
